Jay Garrick-The First Flash

In 1940, the DC comics published The Flash issue 1 and introduced the first Flash, Jay Garrick to the world.

Jay Garrick’s powers came from a lab accident, he accidentally released dangerous fumes and knocked himself down for days. When he woke up in the hospital, he found out that he gained the ability to move at super speed. Then, he made himself a costume and called himself “The Flash” , he fought crime and later on joined the Superhero society JSA.

In the 1950s Jay Garrick retired with the end of the golden age. He returned to fighting crime when the Second Flash, Barry Allen found out about the parallel universe earth 2, where Keystone city, the home town of Jay Garrick , and revived the golden age heroes. Jay has been active being a superhero since then.

In 2011, the DC comics rebooted the whole universe which is called New52, Jay Garrick, Wally West, and other speedsters has been trapped in the speedforce until Wally West came out from the Speedforce and started the DC universe rebirth. When the Flash and Batman tracked down the mysterious force changing the timeline, their cosmic treadmill broke down, and Jay appeared to give them enough power to get home. But sadly, Jay got sucked into the speedforce again.

Jay Garrick has also appeared in animated tv series like Young Justice and live action tv series Like the Flash.
